Curious creepy crawlies
One of the worst photographs ever taken of me is also thankfully one of the grainiest. Were it not, I'm pretty sure that some serious trauma would have set in the moment I clapped eyes on it. I was camping with a friend and she woke up to see an enormous spider strolling nonchalantly across my face. Instead of reacting in a normal fashion by, say, lightly flipping the spider off and decanting it back into it's natural habitat, she decided to take a photograph and then spent the rest of the night beadily eyeing up said spider to ensure it didn't try any face-scaling on her side of the tent. So there you have it, my intense hate of bugs on or about my person is well-documented. However, these enormous and really unusual brooches from the "Curiosities" collection by Portuguese jewellery designer Catarina Fernandes are fantastically eye-catching, if a little creepy. A lot of her work is currently being sold in the CCB (Cultural Centre of Belem in Lisbon) but you can contact her through her website.
