Bombas & Parr: Fine English jelly
There was a time, not too long ago, when a birthday party was nothing without a fine English jelly. English jellymongers Bombas & Parr have been specialising in weird and wonderful jellies (most of them, thankfully, alcoholic) for some time and are now starting to branch out. Recent drink-based projects have included a vast glowing jelly installation for San Francisco MOMA; Alcoholic Architecture, a walk in cloud of breathable G&T and the Architectural Punchbowl where they flooded a Robert Adam building with 4 tonnes of Courvoisier Punch. However, given that most people I know suddenly appear to be either on the cusp of getting married or proudly sporting new diamond rings (there must be something in the water), I thought I'd take a look at their architectural sculptures - which are all made of jelly. I don't even like the stuff that much but it'd be interesting to go to a wedding where someone pushed the boat out and went for this rather than the now-traditional platter of cupcakes. And if nothing here catches your eye, they're happy to design new custom jelly moulds in any shape, size or colour. They'll even make it glow in the dark.
