I've been fond of the crazily coloured furniture at Squint London for a long time and, the first time I saw the chairs by Portuguese product designer Rui Pereira, I thought I'd found a Luso equivalent. Not so. The armchair, footstool and lamp are part of a series of objects that reflect on our plastic consumption and how plastic can be transformed into alternative everyday objects. A very original project, to be sure and these pieces would look great in a study inhabited by a teenager. I love the idea but I can't shake the feeling that the pieces look a little like they've been smeared with bubblegum. What do you think?
