I've only been back in London for a couple of hours and already I'm a little bit homesick for Lisbon and Portugal. However, I had a great trip, managed to develop a secret project I'm working on and had a ball trying out my new Nikon (badly but enthusiastically). So, because I'm a true small-town girl who is missing her home town, I thought I'd give you a look around the place I grew up, Cascais. It's a small and bustling town on the coast, about 20 minutes drive north of Lisbon. The name Cascais is derived from the latin word Cascas, meaning shells (three guesses what industry the town is based around?). I took a couple of photos of some of the streets. Note the pretty cobbled and patterned streets - lovely to look at, lethal to high heels. The vast majority of residents that are given community service will spend their time repairing the cobbles. As they're only set in sand cement, it's something of a constant task!
