Furniture fit for a convent

The Catholic church has always been known for its love of ritual and decoration. The golden incense swingers, the rich furnishings of the chapels and the embroidered vestiments all play their part. In addition, convents were traditionally extremely well outfitted, often from donations from rich citizens that wanted to make it that little bit easier to get into heaven. Although the nuns themselves lived in sparse cells, their surroundings were beautiful. Moveis Convento (literally translated, Furniture from a Convent) has a large variety of traditional Portuguese furniture mixed in with ultra-modern design pieces in their enormous showroom. Just look at that re-upholstered chaise longe!

  1. I like the chaise in the first photo! Fit for a convent, indeed.
