A seat by the fire

Having spent four hours trudging through the snow to work this morning, I'm feeling the need for coziness. And what could be cozier than curling up in a chair with a book in front of a roaring fire in your sleek, newly decorated house? Well, curling up with the book and a glass of mulled wine, maybe. But this is a January post so we'll try to avoid the booze! As this look is traditionally associated with country houses, I was amazed to find so many extremely modern designs that build on the human love of sitting near a roaring fire. Another potential look for the new house (especially as the boyfriend's mother has very kindly said she'll teach me to knit!) and I'm taking inspiration from the below as I stare at them, trying to convince myself that my feet can't possibly be quite as cold as they feel...
