I'm a big fan of restored furniture. It never ceases to amaze me how many people spend a fortune on flatpacked furniture when they could get a well-made piece for half the price in a charity shop or thrift store and make it their own. I've got a couple of very exciting guides on how to restore furniture planed for you but before that, I just had to share the work of Portuguese furniture restorers Habitat Improver. They use traditional manual techniques to restore and repair older pieces. Their work is gorgeous and definitely something I want to try for myself! This table is called "Folklore". They took an unremarkable brown table and, using vinyl gloss and traditional Portuguese silk scarves, transformed it completely.
Got something you'd like me to look at, consider or review? Or just want my recipe for the ultimate Amaretto Sour? Either way, leave me a comment or send me an email.
London Lisbonite is a design blog featuring interior design (mainly international but with a strong Portuguese design focus), homewares and DIY projects.
