Favourite five: Blankets

In winter, we revert to a more basic state of mammal existence, seeking out comfort in high calorie food and warmth. It is in my capacity of mammal-yearning-to-hibernate (rather than mammal-fed-up-with-slithering-across-ice-to-work) that I wanted to share my pick of the snuggliest blankets I could find. Because my charming original wooden sash windows let in an obscene amount of cold, every chair and sofa I own has a blanket slung across the back of it. But as Mae West said, "Too much of a good thing can be wonderful"!
Classic choice: Cashmere throw with satin border, £160 from
Lombok. 100% cashmere sourced from Nepal.

Cute choice: Cream Seabloom Throw, £200 from
Atlantic Blankets. 100% wool, backed with cotton with a 3d flower attached. Unusual to say the least.
Modern choice: "Josh" Missoni throw, £198 from
Abode. Gorgeous soft tasseled and ribbed multi-coloured throw (that a little birdie told me is currently on sale in some of the TK Maxx stores in London for about a quarter of the price...move fast!)
Quirky choice: Ostrich throw, £69 from
Auberginette at Bouf. Like big, long-necked birds? This is for you. Bizarre.
Crafted choice: Vanilla Basketweave Blanket, $195 from
LuvEweKnit. Pretty and soft handmade block patterned afghan.

  1. I love the Missoni throws - just wish they weren't quite so expensive!
