Best IKEA hack 2009

I'm a massive IKEA Hack fan. For those of us bubbling over with desire and ideas (but unfortunately not money), IKEA can be a treasure trove of easily convertible pieces. The competition to find the best hack of 2009 is currently live. Although all of the hacks are ingenious and really well made, I wanted to share my favourite. I don't actually have a hamster (or, for that matter, have any desire to GET a hamster) but I thought that the way this block of shelves was converted into a hamster cage was really, really smart. My sister and I had two gerbils when we were younger (RIP Pip and Squeak) and they provided hours of amusement (when I was eight, watching a rodent decimate a loo roll with it's teeth was about as exciting as it got). They've got my vote - you can cast yours here. In keeping with the animal theme (and my ongoing campaign to convince the Boyfriend that we should get chickens), I think that the chicken run should definitely get second place! I would have chosen the rocking chair for the garden except...we won't have one...*snif*.
